What we collect

If you join the mailing list, we collect your email address and signup consent. If you submit a story, we collect the story, headline, permission to adapt it, and any optional name or email you provide. A technical identifier helps us process forms.

How we use it

We use mailing-list details to send requested issues and occasional project updates. Story details are used to review and prepare possible publication, and an optional email may be used for follow-up. Submitting a story does not sign you up for the newsletter. We do not sell your personal information.

Storage and choices

The site uses Google Firebase for hosting and form storage. Our site stores a temporary technical sign-in token in your browser session to submit forms. We do not use advertising trackers or Google Analytics in this version. Information may be processed outside your country. Authorized project administrators can access submitted data; it is not available for public browsing.

We retain subscriptions while you remain subscribed and story submissions while they are being considered or used. Email newsroom@pokethebear.news to unsubscribe, request access, or ask us to delete an unpublished submission. Published copies already downloaded or printed may remain in circulation.

Submission terms

By submitting, you confirm that you are at least 18, that the story is yours to share or you have permission, and that you have removed identifying information about children and other people.

You retain ownership of your original contribution. You give Poke The Bear non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to edit, adapt, fictionalize, illustrate, and publish it as Poke The Bear content in print, on the website, and on social media. We may change names and details. No payment or publication is promised. An optional pen name may be used for credit; email addresses will not be published.
